Minh Best
Camp No Limits Camper

Right off the bat, Minh Best’s adoptive parents KNEW she was perfect for their family. Minh is from Vietnam and was born missing both of her arms up to her shoulders. She also is missing her fibula bone, which made it hard for her to walk, but allowed her to be more flexible, and therefore she could become more independent with the use of her feet. Minh’s parents, Sarah and Justin, wanted to adopt a child with limb differences after their family had done the same. Now, Minh has cousins just like her!

Her parents had some background knowledge about the disability community because of their jobs in special education, so that experience was extremely beneficial for Minh. She’s had so many incredible people rooting her on, that she has adapted well AND gained confidence with independence too. Even in the beginning, her nannies from Vietnam helped her adapt. By a year and a half in the states, she was already scribbling and drawing with her feet, which laid the foundation for her independence. She can cut her food, get dressed by herself, ride a bike and more. She primarily uses her feet, but she is encouraged to use tools like prosthetics, if that is something she wants!

Minh and her family found out about Camp No Limits through the Smith’s- their extended family- with limb difference children. They thought about waiting to bring her, because she was still so young, but decided it was a great environment to get her involved in, early on. They realized that CNL helps the WHOLE family and wanted to keep attending more and more! Minh’s mom states that, “it wasn’t just focused on the disability, but rocking your differences the way god made you.” Perfectly said! She’s made so many connections, and so have her parents.

Although it’s very apparent that Minh is super talented, she also extends those talents to her artwork!  She was so invested in it that the family started selling Minh’s artwork to fundraise for Camp. She absolutely loves doing it and spends hours on the activity! Her work is on Instagram @meeting_minh_art and their Facebook page, Meeting Minh- check out her stuff and help support Camp No Limits!

Minh ALWAYS makes her accommodations work and does NOT let herself be held back by any challenges. Her motto is “I got this.” Yes you do Minh- We support you!
